Dr. Marcus Felson
MARCUS FELSON is Professor at the Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice. He has served as professor at the University of Southern California and the University of Illinois. He received his Ph.D from the University of Michigan and his B.A. from the University of Chicago. Professor Felson has been guest lecturer in numerous countries, including Abu Dhabi, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan. His first book, Crime and Everyday Life, is already in its third edition and he is working on a fourth edition. He is co-author of Opportunity Makes the Thief (with Ronald V. Clarke) His edited books include (1) Routine Activity and Rational Choice: Advances in Criminological Theory (edited with Ronald V. Clarke), (2) Business and Crime (edited with Ronald V. Clarke); and (3) Crime Prevention through Real Estate Management and Development (edited with Rick Peiser). Professor Felson is author of 85 professional papers, including "Redesigning Hell: Preventing Crime and Disorder at the Port Authority Bus Terminal." Professor Felson's latest book, Crime and Nature, considers how crime can be studied within a larger environmental context.
